Un muy buen lugar para comer y tomar algo, la comida y bebida son muy deliciosos, y además la atención que te ofrece Miguel es excelente muy recomendable, nos atendió muy bien, incluso tuvo el detalle de recomendarnos sitios y orientarnos sobre la isla!… Habla español y portugués, además de tener a la venta productos tanto latinos como originarios de madeira de buena calidad ~ Ricardo A

A minha experiência neste bar superou as espectativas, pois desde o atendimento à comida foi tudo 5 estrelas. Apesar de tudo ter sido excelente, e de o recomendar vivamente, a quem visite Madeira, não posso deixar de destacar a simpatia, profissionalismo, dedicação e educação do filho dos donos do bar,pois foi neste bar que eu experiênciei a maior simpatia, e acolhimento, durante a minha estada de 5 dias naquela Ilha. ~ Michael S

Sitio genial para comer y probar la famosa poncha. El servicio es excelente, la comida muy rica y la poncha la hicieron en el mismo momento, muy buena! También tiene para comprar comida y bebida y el dueño te hace recomendaciones en función de lo que busques. Sin duda repetiría, 100% recomendable!! ~ Marta S

Super lokal, miła i szybka obsługa, zaraz obok zatłoczonego lokalu. Cieszyliśmy się, że trafiliśmy do Madeira Tropical Bar, a noe obok, bo było zdecydowanie spokojniej. Polecam!!! Ps. Za duże piwo 2,5 euro, a w pobliżu najtańsze jest za 6 euro 😁 ~ ziutka z

Las bebidas muy refrescantes bien servidas, fueron muy atentos con nosotros, nos sentimos cómodos, tienen gran variedad de souvenirs tradicionales de madeira. Ideal para comer ligero, beber refrescante y venden muchas cosas bonitas de madeira. ~ Rosmir R

Genuinely my absolute favourite place/bar in Funchal! The poncha and nikita are really fresh and super good! They also have a variety of different local products which was super practical to stock up for hikes. The owner is an absolute gem of a person, super kind and always there to serve the best!! Also met some amazing locals here and ended up coming to this place almost every night for a drink because the atmosphere feels very welcoming. 200% recommend this spot !! 🫶 ~ Antoine G

We came to the tropical bar a few times during our stay in Madeira. Each time we were greeted with friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere. We also ate here for lunch and dinner. The steak, chicken and tuna dishes were extremely nice and great value. The steak sandwich was also nice. Prices are very reasonable and much cheaper than the surrounding bars and restaurants. Recommended if you are in town. ~ Steve R

Visited on September 15 and 17, 2025 upon landing (late evening) in Funchal. I tried the regional (traditional), passionfruit, kiwi, and strawberry poncha - all were very delicious. The kiwi is probably my favourite aside from the traditional, as it seemed to have tajin or similar in the bottom which was a lovely spicy/punchy surprise. I also tried the tequeños which were 10/10 for a little pub style appetizer for one (from my understanding, these are Venezuelan). If you are from the west, they are like mozzarella sticks but way WAY better (cheese wrapped in pastry as opposed to breaded). They also give you a little dish of peanuts to accompany the poncha which is a traditional accompaniment. I loved the vibes on the terrace late at night; warm, airy, cozy. Note that it's a smaller seating area from the Rei da Poncha seating area! Which is the main area and much more popular/busy. It's a case of line up vs no line. The staff was very friendly and welcoming; I was able to buy a bottle of aguardente de cana to bring home to (attempt to) make poncha for my friends in Canada. My partner an I discovered this wee bar, so glad we did, as its a family run business. Juan and family were so friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent and their poncha was first class 👌. We would highly recommend everyone to visit this family run business 😀 we will certainly be back to see you guys in April ~ Karen B

We came back multiple times while staying in Funchal! The outdoor space at the back has an incredible vibe with loads of people and music. Their service is so warm and welcoming with aperitvo snacks and checking on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Their prices are some of the best in Funchal, would highly recommend. ~ Lulu S

Excellent every time (3 visits). Ate here twice - lunchtime and dinner and drinks on the first time. Excellent service with friendly staff. Very friendly. Amazing ponchas and excellent customer service! The tangerine poncha was our favorite, but all of them were great. They always served free snacks with the drinks, which was a nice touch. Had to come back twice. The prices were also some of the best among the bars open at night in the area - no overpriced beers here. ~ Vytautas (
